Chapter 1 - “Silhouette”

Re;A Hero’s Fantastic blessing-filled Life! EX

Arc 1 - “Despair’s Door”

Chapter 1 - “Silhouette”

A boy with red hair wakes up in a field full of flowers. His messy hair slowly swayed in the gentle winds, while his blue eyes were glistening in the sunlight. The sounds of the birds chirping along with everything else made the entire mood feel gentle and peaceful.
        “Where am I——?
The clouds covered the sun, the gentle winds stopped, the flowers started to rot, the birds stopped chirping, and all of that was just because he asked that question.
        “Justice… Hendricks—”
He heard a voice calling for him.
        “What? Who are you?”
Someone appears in front of him. Their entire body was made out of shadows, so it was a little hard to distinguish their gender. However, Justice assumes that it’s a girl, due to their feminine body and voice.
        “Justice Hendricks… you… aren’t the one…”
        “I’m not the… o—”
Before he could finish his sentence, the stopped winds start blowing hastily. Branches and leaves started flying around the girl. Soon, the flying objects started flying over at him. A branch hit both of his eyes, causing him to close them, but as soon as he opens them again, he finds himself looking at a ceiling.
It wasn’t any ceiling, though. It was the ceiling from his room, the ceiling that was inside the Wald Faction’s Mansion. The Mansion of the Wald Faction’s leader, Lund Wald.
        He lets out a sigh.
“That dream again? It’s the 5th time I’ve had it this week.
He gets out of bed and wipes his eyes while yawning at the same time. After he finishes brushing his teeth, he opens the doors to leave his room, but he only finds the twin maids, Ram and Rem, cleaning.
“Since Rem and Ram are the only people awake, I’m guessing it must be super early.
He closes the doors, then proceeds to jump back into his bed. He stayed on it for a few minutes, until…
        “––”
        “I can’t fall asleep…
Not being able to sleep, Justice gets off of his bed and opens his doors again, but this time, the doors don’t show two maids, it shows a library, with stairs going down in a spiral pattern, at the center of the room.
        “The Forbidden Library?
The most knowledgeable place in the Mansion—— or, maybe even the Country, along with a special someone’s own room.
        “Beatrice! Where are you?”
After screaming that, there are a few seconds of silence before someone finally responds.
“Nowhere, I suppose! So, leave now!”
        “Ah, there you are!”
What was in front of him was a little girl, with blonde drill hair and blue pupils that were shaped like butterflies. She was sitting on a stool, reading a book until she was interrupted.
“What do you need, I suppose?”
She dives back into her book, looking a little annoyed.
“Nothing. Just here to kill time.”
“Then “kill time” somewhere else. Can’t you see that I’m trying to read a book?!”
        “Really? What book?”
Just before Justice was able to get a peak of what was inside her book, she puts her hand onto his chest.
“Leave now, or I’ll make you, I suppose.”
Justice slowly moves backward a little, trying to act innocent, as if he did nothing to aggravate her.
“Before you do anything, can I ask you for a favor?”
        “Depends on what it is.”
“Do you have any books about recurring dreams or the like? If you do, I’ll need it.”
“The Forbidden Library has books about dreams, yes. But I’ve never heard about a book that’s on the subject of recurring dreams, I suppose. You’d best ask your father regarding things about dreams, I suppose.”
        “Alright, thanks!”
“But Beatrice… why do you live here? In the Library, I mean.”
        “That’s none of your business.”
She points her hand at Justice and fires an invisible gust to kick him out of the Library. Beatrice then mutters something under her breath, with a tear in her eye.
        “Mother… when will I…”

While he gets off the ground, he also starts wiping his clothes to get the dirt from the Mansion’s floors off.
“Man, Beatrice really doesn’t know how to go easy on me, does she?”
He lets out a sigh and walks to his room. Before he could reach it, one of the maids called out to him. She had short blue hair that covered her right eye.
“Justice-sama, your father is requesting that you meet him in the backyard.”
He heads to the backyard and finds a man with green hair. Justice’s father, Philip. Even though he was in his 30s, most people interpret him to be in his early 20s. He also had blue eyes and was very well built.
He had a body that most men would only dream of having. Coupled with his good looks, most people only need one glance at Philip, to describe him as “Perfect.”
“There you are. What took so long?”
“Sorry, I was talking to Beatrice in the Forbidden Library.”
“Alright. But are you ready for today’s training session?”
        “You bet!”
The life force we have is titled “Mana”. With Mana, we’re able to do a multitude of things, however, the most prominent thing to do with it, is to utilize Magic. Magic is a paranormal power that alters mana passing through a gate into a form that has an effect on reality. Now, since I possess Wind Magic, and your mom possesses Fire Magic, it only makes sense that you possess both of them.
“Cool! How do I use it!?”
“To use Magic, you must visualize yourself opening your gate to let Magic through. Let’s try a Wind Magic spell; I’m more skilled in it than Fire Magic.”
Philip turns around and closes his eye. He starts lifting up his hand until it’s pointing at a tree. He takes one deep breath and———
『 Fura 』
A blast of wind flies out of his hand and at a tree. In the blink of an eye, the top part of the tree had been completely torn to shreds. No doubt it was due to Philip’s Magic. Justice started blushing with excitement.
“That’s basically how it works for most inexperienced people. 『 Fura 』is sort of a beginners spell. If you keep training every day like I did, then you’ll be able to use Magic without needing to say the name, eventually, you might be able to use 『 Ul Fura 』 or 『 Min Fura 』.”
        “My turn!”
He readies into the same stance Philip did. He breathes in and out very slowly——
『 Fura 』
Like Philip, Justice also fired a blast of wind flying at supersonic speeds, the recoil from firing the blast pushed him back a little. His output was significantly smaller than Philip’s, though. Before Philip could say anything, someone opens the Mansion’s doors that lead to the backyard.
        “Philip!”
        Justice’s mom—
She had red hair tied into a pony-tail and blue eyes that shined like diamonds. Like Philip, who could be described by the word “Perfect”, she could be described by the word “Youth.”
The way she screamed his name must’ve meant that there is something bad happening.
        “Philip–––– it’s our anniversary!”
        “………Eh?”
A small and quiet sound escaped from both Justice and Philip’s mouths. She starts dancing, talking about the things Philip probably got her, while the boys stand there in utter shock.
        “Oh yeah—— breakfast is ready!”

Justice and his parents were sitting at a very large table. There were Knights, children of the Knights, and some mages. Sitting at the head of the table was a short overweight man, Lund Wald. He was the ruler of the Mansion. Sitting on the complete opposite part from him was his daughter, Mallow Wald. She has blonde hair and a yaeba. Everyone starts to eat their breakfast, made by the twin maids. Only one of the maids was present, Rem. She was standing next to where Lund was sitting.
“The food you made is great, Rem!”
        “Thank you, Justice-sama.”
“I’m sure I could’ve done better if you guys would let me cook.”
That voice came from Wald, Lund Wald.
“Really? I don’t really think you can coo——”
“Yes, really. You guys protect me, in return, I give you someplace to live, and feed you. But it would be a little fair if I was the one doing everything for you.”
“We wouldn’t want our “Lord” to overwork himself to death.”
A new voice came into the conversation between Justice and Wald. Her black hair along with the white complexion of her face, she could easily make someone fall in love with her.
        “That is very true, Sakura.”
“We’re all here to protect you, so we really can’t have you dying on us.”
Another voice joins the conversation, he was of the same stature as Beatrice and Wald. He wore a blue robe that covers his entire body and a wizard hat that covers most of his head. His face couldn’t be seen; he has two visible yellow eyes. His real name is unknown, he prefers people to call him “Black Mage.”
“Except me, I suppose. I’m just here to protect the Library.”
“Yes, yes. I am amazing. I’m undoubtedly the best ruler the Wald Domain has had, we can all agree on that. I have made several contracts with the strongest Knights and Mages that will always protect me because you all love me so much. I don’t want to brag, but I’m the most handsome and beautiful person in the entire World. The only person that would probably rival me, is my daughter, but that’s only because she’s related to me, of course. I am friends with some of the most powerful people here in Lunin, and I’m not just talking about terms of battling! I wouldn’t be surprised if any of you guys here want to seek a closer relationship with me, and that’s fine, everyone wants to seek a closer relationship with me, unfortunately, I’m usually busy with my duties as this Domain’s ruler, which leaves me barely any time to bond with any one of you. In short, I’m amazing, you all are nothing compared to m——”
Someone opening a door interrupted Lund. The person who opened the door was Ram, she looked like she had news.
“Sir, someone asked to see you. They’re waiting for you outside. I didn’t open the door, so I can only assume that it was a female.”
